Stockholm Film Festival was losing audience, and half the country has no cinema. In the first half of 2024 alone, Swedish cinemas sold 350,000 fewer tickets than the year before. Sweden does, however, have people who’ve built cinemas in their living rooms.
Six Nordic premieres in private home cinemas across the country, in living rooms, garages and a former laundry room, all in the official programme.
The budget was €7,500 and there was no media money, so the idea had to be the distribution. We found the home cinemas, made them official venues and let their owners front the story. The press did the rest.

From the film
“The campaign changed how Stockholm International Film Festival was perceived, from a niche event for film insiders to a more open and welcoming festival.”
